Biography
Hannah Kane's work in the fashion industry spans journalism, editing, authorship, creative direction, academia, thought leadership, and consultancy. This gives her a uniquely broad view of the industry.
As a popular and textbook author of non-fiction, she writes at the intersection of style, culture, subculture, and philosophy. Her major work The Style Thesaurus was published on the Laurence King imprint of Hachette UK and has since been translated into French, Italian, and Chinese. Her latest book, A Pocket Guide to Dr Martens, was published in the spring of 2026 and is now also available in Italian. She is passionate about the art and craft of writing and the research process that supports it.
She holds a permanent fractional post as a Lecturer in Fashion Marketing at the Fashion Business School, London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, where she teaches strategic fashion marketing with a specialism in communications, experience design, immersive technologies, and AI. Her recent research explored experiences in metaverse environments. She is a believer in the pursuit of knowledge, with her teaching and research supporting continued learning at the cutting edge of macro trends, hype cycles, and market developments.
Alongside writing, she is a visual creative with a background in editing consumer magazines, booking talent, producing shoots, and leading brand development.
She is a regular speaker at fashion and creative industry events.
